The use of the Hangouts app has got many people asking , it is possible to go on with the app without a Google account? Yes, external guests can join without a Google account using the meeting URL, if given access to. Guests without an account can video call, but do not participate in other features, like text chat and Hangout apps will not be open to them.
Update your Hangouts app
If you are not a user of the Hangouts app or not on the latest version, update is required to enjoy the latest features and fix technical problems. But before you update the Hangouts app, you are required to have the latest version of chrome. The app should automatically update. If you want to update the app yourself, you can remove it from your device and then add it back.
- Go on chrome.
- On the Bookmarks bar, click on Apps or, in the address bar, visit chrome://apps.
- Right click the Hangouts app.
- Click remove from chrome.
- Open the Chrome Web Store and search for the Hangouts chrome app.
- Tap on Add to Chrome > Add app.
- The app will automatically open.
